Objects and keepsakes

Clocks, boxes, screens, lamps, sculpture, ceramics and the sentimental things that do not fit a category, restored with the same care as furniture.

Carved wooden boxes

What this covers

Some of the most important pieces we see are not furniture at all. A clock case from a grandparent's house, a jewellery box, a folding screen, a carved figure or a ceramic that has been broken and glued too many times. These are often the hardest things to find help for, and they are welcome here.

  • Antique clock cases and wall clock housings
  • Boxes, caskets and small chests
  • Folding screens and carved panels
  • Lamps and lamp bases
  • Sculpture in wood and other materials
  • Ceramics and earlier repairs that need redoing
  • Frames and decorative mirrors

How we do it

Each object gets its own plan, because the materials vary so much. We assess what it is made of and what has been done to it before, then use whichever of our furniture, finishing or art conservation methods suits it best.

We restore clock cases and decorative surfaces. Clock movements are specialist work, and we will tell you where to take one. If a job needs a skill we do not have in house, we will say so and point you to someone who can help.

What to send us

A photograph of the whole object, close-ups of the damage, and a photograph of the base or back. Include something in the shot for scale if the size is not obvious.
