Family pieces
The dressing table, the altar table, the chair that has been in the family for three generations. Pieces that cannot be replaced, only repaired.
Collectors and dealers
Conservation-minded work that respects original surfaces and value. We document what we do and can supply a restoration report.
Interiors and hospitality
Period pieces for homes, hotels, restaurants and offices. We work with designers and can restore to a brief and a deadline.
What we do
Furniture, objects and the things that are hard to categorise
Chairs, tables, cabinets and chests, but also screens, mirrors, clocks, boxes, lamps, sculpture, ceramics and family keepsakes. If it is old, made with care and matters to you, send us a photograph. We quote per piece and tell you plainly if restoration is not worth the cost.

Structural repair
Loose or broken joints, split panels, snapped legs and spindles, sagging drawers and doors. Re-glued and re-built with traditional joinery so the repair lasts.

Surfaces and finishes
Cleaning and reviving original finish where it is sound. Where it is not, re-finishing by the method the maker would have used: wax, oil, shellac or lacquer rather than a modern spray coat.

Veneer, carving and inlay
Lifted or missing veneer, broken carvings, loose inlay and mouldings. Replacement parts cut in matching timber and aged to blend with the original.

Painted and gilded surfaces
Flaking paint, worn gilding and lacquered or lacquer-painted panels consolidated and retouched, using the same methods we apply to frames and works of art.

Hardware and fittings
Locks, hinges, handles, castors and escutcheons cleaned, repaired or sourced to match. Glass and mirror panels replaced.

Objects and keepsakes
Clocks, boxes, screens, lamps, sculpture, ceramics, frames and the sentimental things that do not fit a category. If we cannot help we will point you to someone who can.

Our approach
Repair what is broken. Keep what is old.
A piece that has aged for decades should not come back looking like it was bought last week. Where it has sound original finish we clean and revive it rather than strip it. Where it has to be re-finished we match the original method and colour, and we stop when it is right rather than when it is shiny.
- Reversible, conservation-minded repairs wherever possible
- Traditional adhesives and joinery, not screws and filler
- Replacement parts in matching material, aged to blend
- Photographed before, during and after, with a written summary
- Finished for Singapore's humidity and air-conditioning
How it works
From photographs to delivery
Send photographs
Use the form below. Three or four photographs, including close-ups of the damage, are enough for an initial view.
Assessment and quote
We reply within two working days with an indicative quote and what we recommend. Larger or complex pieces get a visit.
Collection and work
We collect, wrap and bring the piece to our workshop. Most jobs take two to four weeks; we confirm a date with the quote.
Return and care notes
Delivered back and placed. You get before and after photographs and simple care notes for the climate.
Quoting
Every piece is quoted on its own
Restoration is skilled hand work, so there is no price list. We assess your photographs, tell you what we recommend and what it will cost, and you decide. If a piece is not worth restoring we will say so.

Common questions
Before you send photographs
Will restoration reduce the value of an antique?
Over-restoration can. Stripping original finish, replacing patinated hardware or filling every mark lowers value for collectors. We restore to a level you agree in advance and keep original material wherever it is sound.
Do you do simple re-varnishing of newer furniture?
Not usually. Our workshop is set up for older and higher-value pieces. For a quick re-varnish of a recent piece a general furniture repairer will be the better fit.
Why does old furniture crack in Singapore?
Air-conditioning dries timber that spent decades in humid rooms, and the swings between the two open joints and split panels. We stabilise the piece, repair the splits and advise on placement so it does not recur.
Can you treat woodworm or termites?
Yes. Active infestation is treated before any restoration starts, and badly weakened sections are consolidated or replaced. If a piece is too far gone we will tell you.
Do you buy or sell antique furniture?
We restore for owners, dealers and designers. We can also advise on valuation through our sister gallery, and we occasionally take restored pieces on consignment.
How long does it take?
Most pieces take two to four weeks, and simple repairs are often quicker. Traditional finishes need curing time between coats, so we confirm a realistic date with the quote rather than promise the fastest one.
